Giving Up Porn

Giving UP Porn

Having personally been affected by porn and its availability on the internet, it irks me that the Mainstream media, Entertainment Tonight, interviews often porn stars as if they were talented young women and entertainment.  This sends obviously sends the wrong message to our teens that porn is “ok”.

I often look back at my own life and how porn has affected it.  Porn has definitely affected my marriages and how I conducted myself over the years.  I sinned more because of it and it probably cost me my second marriage.  Since my divorce, I am coming out against porn.  I am giving it up and speaking out against it.

Porn, stimulates a person to the point where they must release this energy often this leads to other actions that usually lead to some kind of sin against God.  Giving up Porn has changed my life.  It has given me a new outlook.  I have chosen not to have sex outside of marriage and my life has benefited from this decision.  My quality of life has improved.  My mind is no longer clouded by my hormones.  My decision making is not governed by my sex drive.  I am free for the first time.  Join us and help us to fight Porn on the Internet.  Help us organize Las Vegas Rosary Walk 2009.  Contact vernpaul@catholicamericatoday.net

Sex Can Consume You…

Sex can consume you if you do not curtail it.  I use to sit up and think about nothing but sex.  It consumed my every waking moment, from the time I got up to the time I went to bed. I use to think sex was love and that masturbation was a way of releasing stress.  This attitude led me to the dark side of sex.  It ruined two marriages with the two greatest women I have ever met.  After the second Marriage, I went to counseling and then I set out to change.  Change comes slowly.  You must first realize you have a problem.  At first I thought another woman would be the answer.   Then after the fourth meaningless relationship I realized that sex was the problem.  I then went and took a second look at my marriages.  Sex is what destroyed both of my relationships.  I then realized I needed to change my life style.  I needed to God.  I needed to open up my heart to the Lord and reject Satan.  It was a slow process.  It took understanding friends.  It took honesty and a lot of praying.  The Holy Spirit works in many ways and when you are in the darkness of Satan it takes the Church and the love of Jesus to pull you out.  I have come along way and feel the Holy Spirit.  I want to do the right thing so now I want to dedicate my life to helping others.  If you have a problem with sex, we can help you.  Come to Catholic America Today and meet Jesus.

My Dear Friends In Christ,

Man has pondered this for centuries, if God gives us Grace then how are we free to make up our own minds to choose between good and evil? If we had God’s Grace then we would not want to sin, but human nature is predisposed to sin. How does that work and does God want salvation for all?

The argument in the sixteenth century and seventeenth century when this subject was heavily debated was pretty complicated and one could easily be confused. To start why give man free will in the first place, why not save all men? I will just say that I am not looking for a career change to philosopher.

According to Kenneth Baker, S.J. Catholics remain “free” after they receive God’s Grace. He defines two types of Grace. There is “efficacious grace” where God’s grace achieve their purpose and then there is “sufficient grace” where people say no to God. Baker defines this grace as not being enough to obtain a good outcome, but does give sufficient power to produce one. In other words man has the power to refuse Grace.

I have no problem with the definition of grace. I have been in the position where I have refused God many a time. It was quite simple when I was younger, because of my racing hormones, all the devil had to do was put a beautiful woman in front of me and that was it. I fell from grace.

For those Catholics that do not see the beauty of God’s Church, God was of course intelligent to know that man could not always choose right. This is why he developed a sacramental church where we have reconciliation with God. Where we could choose to operate and be in grace with God. It is our choice to make. This is why I think church is not a design by man. It is too perfect. It is designed well. Man could not have achieved or have thought of such a religion. Everything is too well planned right down to the scripture.

Well I have to go and take my son to school. I hope all of you have a nice day. Remember Catholic America Today would make a good Christmas gift.

A Mortal Sin: Sex Before Marriage

December 3, 2008

Dear Friends in Christ,

I was going to talk about Pope Pius the XII today and his sainthood.  I am going to put it off a day just to talk about sex before marriage.  I saw a post about abortion in Catholic America Today and the person talked about how young adults must control themselves before they have sex.  This is all too true.  The problem is our society.  When we surround ourselves in every aspect of our lives with sex, how can we ask them to resist without proper teaching?  Our society has failed to lead.  The basic attitude was in when I was growing up, go to college and find out for yourself what sex is all about.   I did and it was nothing but heart ache and it has led me to nothing but one disaster in my life to another.  I was never told about ways to control myself and the importance of abstaining.  I guess that was too hard.  Well our church and I do not mean just the priests.   I mean the whole church, meaning everyone in the church must rethink our attitude on sex.  One can not be afraid to address something because it is too hard of a topic to address and I think that I where we stand today.  That is not right.

Sex before marriage is a mortal sin.  It often leads to other sins if not addressed by reconciliation.  We need to talk to the youth about they way society is.  Sex has all but ruined my life and I would hate to have the youth of today go through the same thing I went through.  As a church we are doing a terrible job of educating our youth.  They go to college unprepared to face life.  This is one reason I have Catholic America Today.  It needs to be a voice of reason in darkness.  I am going to reach out to the Youth.  Let us all pray on this matter.

God Bless,

Vern Paul
